On the website Italy car rent 2024-05-26 at 15:57 PM, I reserved and paid for Opel Crossland X or similar €79.58 and for Insurance Italy Car Zero Stress €99.00, Total price €178.58. I had to pick up the car at Bari airport on 27/05/2024, 10 AM. When I arrived at the pick-up point, I was asked to provide my driver's license, passport and Credit card I presented my driver's license and passport to the consultant, and I said that I have a payment card connected to my mobile phone and I can only present this one. I was with my family members, we were offered multiple options, including other credit cards. The consultant insisted on providing my personal credit card without any exceptions. e offered the company all possible options so that we could rent a car, since we had planned to visit many places in Italy by car. Refusing any of the options we offered, I asked if my money I paid already will be refunded as we havent geot any car? She gave me a contact (email) that I should use but said that no one will refund the money. I contacted the specified e-mail, explained the entire situation, but received an unpolite, one-sentence answer that the money will not be refunded. In general company‘s terms and conditions it says that client has to provide phisical credit card indeed, but it‘s not said you wont get refund even you dont want to cancel the reservation because company can‘t complete it. After reading the regulations of the company „Italy car rent“, there are several clauses regarding the cancellation of the reservation and refund. As can be seen in the last paragraph of the regulations, in case of force majeure circumstances, the company can cancel the car reservation and refund the money. It was the force majeure circumstances that occurred in our situation, in which the company itself had to cancel the car reservation, because the options offered by us in order to rent a car did not suit the company. From all of the above, it can be seen that our intentions to rent a car were the highest until the very end, therefore we consider that the company acted very ignorant toward their clients not canceling reservation due to force majeure and illegally took money for the car which we have never received. I kindly ask you to help me to resolve this situation giving me an advice about my next steps to get money back from this company „Italy car rent“.
